Environmental Committee

THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE was formed in Spring of 2009. The purpose of this committee is to work to make the university more environmentally friendly through such initiatives as the Bike Movement.

For the past semester, the Environmental Committee of WCSA has been focused on trying to increase awareness of and communication between environmental groups on campus. We’ve also been learning more about administrative involvement, and what types of environmental problems on campus can be dealt with in the near future. We’ve met with Dr. Anderson (head of the Presidential Task Force on Sustainability), other professors and administrators who are interested in and/or involved with environmental efforts, and many other students who are working on their own environmental projects. We have created a Web site for student environmental use to share not only with other Ohio Wesleyan students, but with any other nearby college interested in becoming more environmentally friendly. The purpose of the Web site is to improve communication and idea sharing between schools. This effort led to the Energy Competition, a friendly contest between OWU, Denison, and Wooster to see which school is able to reduce their electricity and water consumption the most during the week of April 16-23. Ohio Wesleyan was the winner of this event.

Feel free to contact any of the committee members with any questions, comments, or concerns:
